Intro To Embodied Leadership, Lesson 3: The Autonomic Nervous System & Embodied Leadership Development
In lesson 3, we will combine everything we’ve learned and explore embodied leadership from the seven perspectives below. This training is our most content-heavy lesson. We will start with a more in-depth intro to Polyvagal Theory and the functions of the three branches of the Autonomic Hierarchy. Special attention will be paid to noticing the physical autonomic states outside of the training and how these states relate to neuroception, interoception, and our perception of our reality as leaders.
Meeting the demand, Part 4, is a tipping point in the training. Once we understand parts 1-3, we will discuss what it means to intentionally meet the demands of our environment while practicing embodied leadership and how our relationship with challenges, stress, anxiety, and trauma changes if we don’t have this outlook.
Finally, we will finish with Parts 5, 6, and 7. As we learn to meet the demands and respond to challenges in our lives, we automatically discover certain qualities known as the qualities of the embodied Self. We will then finish by exploring the five stages of the emotional episode timeline and comparing them to parts 1-5.
This lesson will open with seven guiding points:
Intro to Polyvagal Theory & The Autonomic Hierarchy
3 Autonomic States > Neuroception > Interoception > Perception
Co-Regulation <> Self Regulation
Meeting the demand
The Embodied Qualities of Self
The Emotional Episode Timeline
Declaration of a future
